Frequently
Asked Questions
Q. Do
I have to charter the whole ship?
A. No. Our cruises are sold by the cabin, just like the large
ocean liners. However, groups may want to consider chartering
our vessels. Please contact us for charter requests.
Q. What
is the food like on board?
A. The cuisine on board is sumptuous. traditional Greek and local
cuisine is comprised of lamb, beef, fish, shell fish, vegetables
and cheese.
Q. Are
the cabins nice?
A. Cabins are comfortable with private facilities and air conditioning.
Don't look for enough room to play a good game of Twister, but
you'll find the cabins cozy.
Q. Is
there a pool on the ships?
A. No, you're sailing in it. Our cruises include swimming stops
at some beautiful places, so you'll have time to swim in the warm
waters.
Q. Where
do all the passengers come from?
A. Our passengers come from all over the world. You're sure to
meet some interesting people of different backgrounds.
Q. Can
I bring my hair dryer and electric razor?
A. Make sure to bring an adapter and converter for your international
trip.
Q. I
am a single person, can you arrange a shared cabin for me?
A. Yes, we can offer cabins on a share basis. We'll match you
up with another person of the same sex for you to share a twin
bedded cabin. Since smoking is not permitted in the cabins, there's
no need to worry about that. Plus, our guests come from all over
the world, so chances are you make a new international pen pal.
Q. Do
I have to work on board?
A. No, all you have to do is relax and enjoy the sights and sounds
of the islands. Our professional crew will do all of the work.
Q. What
does my cruise rate include?
A. Your cruise rate includes your cabin, two meals daily (American
breakfast and either lunch or dinner daily - depending on the
itinerary) the Captain's dinner and the Beach BBQ (both included
in the half board meal plan). Our cruises also included complimentary
drinks (local beer, wine and ouzo, coffee, tea and water) In addition
to the complimentary drinks our bars can provide local favorite
drinks and cocktails.
Q. What
will I have to bring?
A. Unlike large ocean liners, we have no formal dress code. We
do ask that during dinner (especially Captain's dinner) you wear
formal clothing, though you'll never need a jacket or tie. During
the day, T-shirts, shorts and swimsuits are fine. Shorts and skirts
are perfect for island visits, though please keep in mind that
long pants (and other "respectful" attire) is needed
for visits to churches and monasteries. Make sure to bring sunscreen,
camera and comfortable walking shoes, sneakers and the ever important
hat to shade you from the strong sun. We suggest you pack your
carry on luggage with toiletries, medications, travel documents,
swim suit and at least one change of clothes.
Q. Should
I bring my jewelry?
A. We suggest you leave your jewelry and other valuables at home,
as there are no lockable compartments or safes in the cabins.
However, any valuables can also be given to the Captain for safe
keeping during the cruise.
Q. How
much time will I have ashore?
A. Unlike many cruise lines, we only sail for an average of four
hours daily, allowing for plenty of time ashore.
Q. Will
I get seasick?
A. The Aegean is usually very calm, though you will sometimes
encounter some rougher seas. Seasickness is normally more of a
problem on the larger cruise ships since they cover more open
waters. Our itineraries are shorter. However, if you are prone
to seasickness, consult with your doctor or pharmacist on what
to bring.
Q. Do
I need to convert money?
A. We accept only cash and traveler's checks on board, though
we do accept American dollars, so there's no need to carry a lot
of local currency.
Q. Do
you offer shore excursions?
A. We offer shore excursions to the exciting and interesting places
of interest on the islands. There is a minimum number of participants
required for each of the shore excursions. All of the details
will be given to you on board by our cruise director.
Q. How
much should I tip on board?
A. How much of a tip you want to leave for the Captain and crew
is up to you. We recommend approximately 5% of your cruise fare
as a guideline for satisfied clients.
