THE
GREEK ISLANDS
The
sailing season starts in March, although a little cool,
it is some of the best sailing to be had as the islands
are still empty and the weather can be perfect for sailing.
The summer months June – August
offer hot dry weather with strong unpredictable North
winds. The days can very hot and the nights are perfect.
The fall; September – November offers
some of the best weather, medium north or south winds,
with warm comfortable days and cool comfortable nights
| Greece
offers not only exciting and lovely sailing but also
each island presents you with a dramatic whitewashed
village set somewhere in the hills or along the sea
front. The Greek islands offer bright contrasts of
color, sounds and tastes that one only finds when
thoroughly delving into a fascinating and hospitable
culture. |

COST OF LIFE AND FOOD
Greek
Cuisine is one of the healthiest ways to eat food. Locally
family TAVERNA'S provide a Gourmet experience that can
not be duplicated anywhere in the world. The cost of life
in Greece is much cheaper than any other European country
or North America.
By eating family style meals and enjoying
the local Island wines, the cost per person per meal can
be as little as $15-$20. There is a saying that people
{EAT TO LIVE} in Greece the people < LIVE TO EAT >.
When you arrive in Greece let us help, you plan an Itinerary
where you can experience authentic Greek cooking.
Greeks
are people who have a traditional spontaneous friendliness
for strangers. Do not try to force them, be at ease with
them and they will go far to help you and extend a warm
welcome to there little piece of paradise. Three people,
four different opinions, long heated discussions, many
laughs, Ouzo, dance music and the local white wine make
Greeks a different race. Blend with them, enjoy, and learn
about their meaning of life. Almost every where people
speak some form of good too indifferent English even the
old people speak good English.
A
Greek island, sunshine, the sea, and calm simplicity that
surround you is the best combination for pleasure.

WHEN TO GO AND WHERE…
Chartering
with Chandler Yacht Charters is
a relaxing experience. Sailing in Greece is a real pleasure
as there are no significant currents, tides, reefs, or
shoals to worry about. There are practically no winding
narrow channels, and therefore no need for channel buoys.
There is rarely any fog, and distances between islands
average 25-30 miles. The high elevations of the islands
make line of sight navigation a breeze.
When
dreaming about this magic vacation try to plan for a minimum
of 2 weeks. Too travel so far and only stay a week is
such a crime. Remember when traveling from North America
you lose 2 days in travel time so that week quickly
becomes 5 days.
Our
minimum charter on our yachts is seven days
but 10 days is much more practical. For longer charters
over 14 days we have a very aggressive discount schedule,
