CHARTER
A YACHT...
Everything you need to know and more!
If you have never
chartered a yacht before, it's much like renting a car. Just a
different form of transportation and a little more financial responsibility.
Yachts are normally chartered in three categories:
Bareboat: A yacht
is chartered to an individual who has a valid skippers license
from their home country and enough sailing experience to sail
the boat alone. Our Insurance also requires that there be another
person onboard with sailing experience and they sign a statement
of compentancy to handle the boat in case of an emergency.
Skippered: A yacht
is chartered with a skipper. All of our skippers are Greek nationals
who speak fluent English and hold valid Greek skipper licenses.
It is highly recommended that first time sailors to the Greek
Islands, hire a skipper. Not only does it make for a more stress
free experience, you will also discover the hidden places and
local treasures no brochure will tell you about.
Crewed: A yacht is
chartered with a skipper, a hostess and/or a deck hand, depending
on the size of the boat and the number of guests. All of our crews
are Greek nationals who speak fluent English, have extensive sailing
experience and have completed appropriate training in safety and
service.

Our Booking
Procedures:
Step 1
Look through "Our Yachts & Prices" and select the
type of yacht you would like to charter.
Step 2
Then take a look at our suggested "Bases & Itineraries"
and choose the area of the Greek Islands where you would most
like to sail. Our itineraries are just general plans for you to
use as guidelines, once onboard you are encouraged to explore.
Step 3
Simply fill out our "Request Form".
Step 4
Confirmation of your charter:
Once you have chosen a charter, you may need a week to finalize
other travel plans. You may request an "Option" (a provisional
hold) for seven days, this reserves the yacht and the itinerary
that you have selected, just for you. If you need more than a
week, just let us know, otherwise your "Option" will
be cancelled and the yacht you have chosen goes back on the available
list.
Step 5
a. With your charter confirmed, you will receive by email, a Kavas
Yacht Charter Agreement and payment schedule.
b. Upon reciept of your Yacht Charter Agreement, a minimum payment
of 50% of the total charter fee is due.
c. The balance of your charter is due 30 days prior to your charter's
embarkation or you can pay the balance in "Cash" at
embarkation.
Payment Plan:
We are more then happy to offer several different payment plans
to accomodate your schedule and payments can to be made by the
following methods:
* Bank Draft
* Cash
* Visa & MasterCard (include 5% bank charges)
Security Deposit:
There are two types of security deposits: Refundable and Non-Refundable.
* Refundable security
deposits range between $1000-$2500 depending on the size of the
yacht. This deposit is returned to you upon completion of your
charter, less the cost of any losses or damages.
* Non-refundable security deposits range from $400-$1000 depending
on the size of the yacht. This payment releaves you of any responsibility
for loss or damages during your charter.
Which ever Security deposits you choose for your charter, it needs
to be paid by either "Bank Draft" or "Cash"
at the time of embarkation. We do not accept "Credit Cards"
for security deposits.
Travel Insurance:
As with any vacations, we strongly recommend that your sailing
trip be insured against any unforeseen circumstances. For very
reputable travel insurance, we recommend TravelGuard.com.
